Day at the Park | Celeste Johnson

Darkness surrounds me
snuffing out my breath.
Colors enter
swirling and dancing
While mists of clouds hang overhead.
I open my eyes,
find myself laying on my back,
The cold earth below me,
the swinging bar above me.
I gasp for air.
Like water on a dry prairie
I suck in as much I can
and breath it out
with the strength of a hurricane.
I blink and sit up.
I almost died.
I run home to tell my mom.
She smiles at me,
"Honey, you just got the wind knocked out of you, that's all."
